01 In short
What is Grocery List — Smart?
Built and maintained by Digital Services. Free on all three stores, in 7 languages.
A grocery and shopping list app with categories, offline access, recipe imports, a home-screen widget and category-level expense tracking. Built by Digital Services and free to download on the App Store, Google Play and Huawei AppGallery.
- Lists that match how you shop — Groceries, gifts, party supplies — as many lists as you need, each one categorised by aisle.
- Works with no signal — Full offline mode. The supermarket basement is not a valid excuse for forgetting the milk.
- Budgets, not guesses — Log spend per category and read it back as a report, so the monthly shock stops being a surprise.

04 Under the hood
How it's actually built.
Grocery List — Smart is a cross-platform build — one codebase across iOS, Android and Huawei AppGallery, which is the practical reason it can carry seven languages including Arabic without maintaining three separate native trees in parallel. On AppGallery devices specifically, notifications and any account services route through Huawei's HMS Core rather than Google's equivalents, since Huawei hardware doesn't ship with Google Mobile Services.
Offline mode is the feature that shaped the rest of the architecture, not an afterthought bolted onto it. Every list edit — adding an item, ticking it off, changing a quantity — writes to a local queue first and reconciles with the server the moment a connection reappears, rather than assuming the network is always there and degrading badly when it isn't. That's the harder version of "offline support" to build, and the one that actually holds up in a supermarket basement with no signal.
The home-screen widget reads from that same local data store directly, using each platform's own native widget framework rather than a web view wrapped to look like one — which is why it reflects the active list instantly rather than waiting on the app to open or a network round trip to finish. Recipe import works the same way in reverse: parsing a recipe's ingredient list into individually quantified, categorised line items on the target list, rather than dumping unstructured text onto it.
